Both dark and light sweet cherries are available canned in light, heavy or extra heavy syrup. the product is generally pitted; unpitted product is available on request. These cherries can be used for pies, other desserts, salads and bakery items. To maintain the quality of the cherries, add them near the end of the cooking time, if possible. Shelf life is two years under normal dry storage conditions.
Note: Do not use canned fruit if you see evidence of rust, bulging or denting on the cans. Throw the can away.
